UMATT

University of Manitoba Association of Tiny Tractors

Who Are We?

We are group of engineering and agriculture students at the University of Manitoba, who design and build a quarter-scale tractor for the annual ASABE 1/4 Scale Tractor Student Design Competition in Peoria, IL.

Given a specified set of tires and an engine, we are challenged to maximize the performance of our tiny tractor. The tractor  is put to the test in three performance events – three tractor pulls, a maneuverability course, and a durability course. Moreover, our tractor design is judged for innovation, manufacturability, serviceability, safety, sound level, and ergonomics.

Through participation in the competition, students gain practical experience in machine and tractor design, manufacturing processes, weight transfer, and strength of materials. Additionally, skills related to communication, leadership, teamwork, fundraising and test & development are also developed.
